The author's love of shiny beetles

started when she stumbled across her first ladybird at the age of three and in her childlike amazement thought, “Who painted those spots?!”

Nadia Holiday was raised in Manchester, UK, in the mid-'70s. Her formative years were spent in the woods and countrysides of Northern England scouting for ladybugs and collecting wild berries.

She attended middle-grade school in several other countries including Algeria, the UAE and the USA until her parents finally settled down in Australia, where she completed high school and University, earning her honours degree in Architecture.

Her fortuitous move down under exposed her to a plethora of native beetles, and since becoming an aunt, she has turned her attention from designing buildings to writing beetle tales for her nephew and niece to enjoy.
